Family Foundation

Who We Are


The Mikesell Family Foundation was created by the Mikesell family in 2002 to enhance the rural communities of South Central Kansas served by their telecommunications operations.

Our Mission


The purpose of the Mikesell Family Foundation is to honor the Mikesell family’s long-term commitment of supporting rural communities previously served by their telecommunications interests in South Central Kansas. The main goals of the foundation are to strengthen education, healthcare, and enhance the quality of life in these communities. We will work indirectly with partners to leverage the resources of the foundation.

Our Strategic Priorities


Educational Grants/Scholarships

Grants awarded to support local educational initiatives; two annual scholarships awarded to high school students for college or vocational school.

Healthcare Grants

Grants awarded to support rural health care in South Central Kansas.

Community Enhancement Grants

Grants awarded for projects to enhance the quality of life in rural communities in South Central Kansas.

Education/Scholarship Funds

  • Dexter High School Vocational Program – Donation for welding equipment

Healthcare Grants

  • GraceMed Clearwater – Grant for geriatric examination room chairs; phlebotomy chair
  • Elk County Council on Aging – Grant to support a van purchase

Community Enhancement Grants

  • Cowley County Fire District #3 – Grant to fund advanced emergency response vehicle
  • Harvest House Food Pantry (Severy) – Grant for freezer purchase
  • City of Cambridge – Grant to fund repair of tornado siren
  • Cowley County Fire District #3 – Grant for purchase of thermal imaging camera
  • Beaumont – Grant to support new community building construction
  • Dexter Senior Center – Grant to assist in the remodel of the senior center
